VISTA ANNUAL DINNER 2008
by Janet Jenks

Saturday 12 April was the date of our annual VISTA meal which over 40 members attended. As always Trish had worked her fingers to the bone and organised a superb meal. Just wish we didn't have to make a choice from so many delicious dishes when it comes to the eating.
We started with a choice of carrot and coriander soup or parsnip and apple soup served with bread. The main course was served buffet style and consisted of ratatouille, lasagne, curry, pasta in a sauce, rice, some very elaborate salads, crudities and dips, new potatoes, cold meats - my memory fails me on anything else. If that wasn't enough there was a choice of four sweets to follow, trifle, fresh fruit salad, custard and cherry tart and an apple crumble style tart. This was all washed down with glasses of wine, beer or soft drinks. Oh I nearly forgot the cheese and biscuits.
Tony and I arrived at the day centre around three o'clock to find Trish, Jean and Lorraine already very busy in the kitchen, so we left them to it and got on with clearing the room of the easy chairs and getting the table laid ready for when people started to arrive around six o'clock.
Our chairman, Martin, presented one of our new members Richard Boetang with the John Adams trophy for the most promising newcomer. The evening finally came to close around ten o'clock. Everyone who attended had a really good time and many thanks to all who made it such a success.
